Our Mission

Safe and Sound is a place to start where you are. Our goal is to provide a place for adults and children to explore the healing power of the equine and natural world. Working with these graceful, intuitive, strong creatures can lead to a journey of self reflection, self awareness, confidence, communication skills and joy. Encouraging a sense of self in which one’s mind, body and soul can reach a safe and sound place.

About Us

13 Acre Farm

Our thirteen-acre farm is nestled against the Nehantic State Forest, lending its trails and natural beauty to our programs. Enjoy miles of hiking or a quiet serenade of what nature has to offer.

Focus on Teens & Youth

We encourage teens and younger to get involved in the barn activities, leave their phones in a backpack, and watch and learn from these beautiful creatures. All of this for even a short time benefits both the horse and the human while encouraging strong confident individuals going forward.

Therapeutic Benefits

Horses are nonjudgmental, alert to the vibes around them, offering feedback by mirroring behaviors. They have a hypervigilance that is on 24/7, these and other equine qualities can help one focus on the present. These mindful observations and interactions encourage a keen sense of communication and physical behaviors that can be carried over into our everyday lives.

Volunteer Today!

There are a variety of volunteer opportunities that allow people of all ages, abilities, talents, and experience levels to help the horses.

Though we can always use help with chores (such as mucking, brushing, feeding, walking, etc.) we are also always looking for people to help with building projects on the farm (barn additions/repairs, fences, etc.).

Not in town. We can still use your help. Help by writing Thank You notes, database entry, post events, assist with fundraising, recruit volunteers, grant writing and so much more!

No Experience Necessary! Great place for Community Service hours.
